Examples are divided by the main delta.com site categories that existed during my tenure. All screenshots were taken after completion of the work. The pages and/or their locations on delta.com may have changed since my departure. Screenshots open in a new window. Close the window to continue browsing.
Delta's design agency provided a new design for this section that was a
vast improvement. It went from a horizontal aircraft seat-map to a vertical
one that afforded much more detail. My colleague oversaw the implementation
and I consulted with him to provide advice on layout and the associated
css. After implementation I was responsible for the maintenance. I received
update requests from an aircraft subject matter expert that monitored all
aircraft changes. I would request any necessary image updates from the design
agency and implement any copy changes to the aircraft page and index.

The New Routes page was added to delta.com to highlight and detail our international expansion. In order to keep the page up-to-date I had to sort through various communications from different departments that announced new service. I assembled a review team that included various subject matter experts and a Delta attorney to review the changes prior to publishing each update.

This enhanced marketing page was produced by Delta's design agency and the delta.com application team. The category tabs and photo slide shows utilize JavaScript. After it's implementation I worked with Marketing to keep the promotional content and assets up-to-date. I also duplicated the code and replaced the content to produce a "Golf" Getaway Ideas page.

This was delta.com's first foray into flash. The design agency worked under
the direction of Marketing and the delta.com application and content teams.
The initial design was entirely flash but a second phase replaced much of
the flash for speed and search engine optimization. I replaced my Manager
as the content lead for the second phase. After implementation I worked
with Pricing to update the specials on a regular schedule.

I often worked with Project Managers to develop and place content within
our architecture in support of their projects. They provided a verbal overview
and the main points that needed to be communicated. I authored this page
to support the implementation of insurance sales on delta.com.

I initiated a complete redesign of this page because the content being
presented in a table resulted in a cumbersome user experience. It is also
a good example of the challenge of writing complex policies in a logical
order and in language that is easy for the user to understand while maintaining
complete accuracy.

Pager duty was rotated among content developers. We were equipped to access
the network from home and had instant publishing authority to update this
page and the delta.com home page in the event of an emergency or inclement
weather that significantly impacted operations.

In-flight movie updates were time-consuming. I provided the business needs
and worked closely with Delta Technology developers to implement an xml
solution that would ease the maintenance requirements. Maintaining an xml
file for the movie data allowed multiple occurrences of the same movie to
be updated simultaneously drastically reducing the labor required.

Check-in information was scattered over multiple categories. I was tasked
with consolidating the information into the most appropriate place to eliminate
redundancy and optimize user experience.

We had multiple complex bulletins on delta.com concerning the ban on carrying
liquids onto the aircraft when I was called into a large cross-divisional
meeting. After much discussion and research it became obvious that a more
permanent solution would be needed. It was also apparent that variations
in multiple international policies would make documenting them all completely
impractical. I chose to place a new page under Airport Information away
from baggage policy to emphasize that these procedures were not Delta policies
but were mandated by the government for safety. I included links to government
agencies in a table that could be expanded as needed. The page received
praise from multiple departments up to the executive level. No edits were
required after implementation.

I maintained SkyMiles partner offers on a regular schedule. I also worked with the vendors and our design agency to maintain a library of the partner logos to our specifications.

Contact information was updated on a regular schedule. Changes were supplied
by subject matter experts from Reservations, Ticket Offices and Global Sales
Offices. I met with these departments and, based on their input, devised
more accurate geographic divisions which became the standard site-wide.
